Fantasy Football Week 9: Jason Avant and More Sleeper WRs to Save Your Week

Tim DanielsNov 2, 2011

Whether it be due to byes, injuries or low productivity, fantasy football owners will spend a lot of time scanning the waiver wire to find the perfect lineup replacements.

One of the more diluted positions is wide receiver because of its volatile production. So, here are three sleepers to consider for Week 9.

Laurent Robinson, Dallas Cowboys

Robinson had another big game operating as Dallas' third receiver, and it's clear Tony Romo has quickly developed chemistry with his new weapon. Seattle's run defense is above average, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Romo throw 35 or more passes again this week.

The Cowboys know that if they can establish Robinson as a weapon defenses must account for, it should open up space for Miles Austin and Dez Bryant. Both guys were disappointed with their usage against Philadelphia. So look for another solid week from the Illinois State product.

Week 9 Projection: Seven fantasy points

Jon Baldwin, Kansas City Chiefs

Baldwin had the look of a No. 2 receiver against the San Diego Chargers on Monday Night Football, and his role in the offense should continue to expand. The first-round pick is back at full strength and will be a nice complement to Dwayne Bowe.

Even though he's got a boatload of potential, it's still too soon to consider him a must-start fantasy player. That said, he's the perfect option to fill a short-term hole and gets a Miami secondary in Week 9 that's been getting burned all season.

Week 9 Projection: Seven fantasy points

Jason Avant, Philadelphia Eagles

Avant has scored at least six points in three of his past four games and is clearly becoming more involved in Philadelphia's offense with DeSean Jackson struggling. And as the Eagles begin to round into form, he may become even more valuable.

The Chicago Bears rank 28th in passing yards allowed, which should mean a lot of targets to go around from Michael Vick. Avant should be on the receiving end of at least eight or nine of them, putting him just one big play away from a monster game.
