Why Philip Rivers Will Never Be in the Same Class as Aaron Rodgers
Two years ago, they were at about the same level. At the time, Philip Rivers was in his fourth year in the league, while Aaron Rodgers was in his second. During the 2009-2010 season, Rivers threw for 4,254 yards, while Rodgers threw for 4,434 yards. The gap has spread from there.
Philip Rivers is a great quarterback—don't get me wrong—he is just having a rough season. His mechanics are a little off and he's been more cold than his normal hot and cold self.
Aaron Rodgers, on the other hand, has been on fire. The reigning Super Bowl champions are undefeated so far this season and Aaron has led the way.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Coming off two awful losses, including Monday night's loss to Kansas City, Philip Rivers leads the NFL in interceptions. He's had 11 this year and just seven touchdowns.
Rodgers leads the NFL in passer rating (125.6), with 20 touchdowns and only three interceptions so far. He will be fresh off his bye week and ready to pummel the Chargers on Sunday.
We could compare numbers all day on both guys and it won't give you a real answer as to why Philip Rivers won't be on Aaron Rodgers' level.
Philip Rivers is easily a top-five quarterback. He isn't playing like one for various reasons, including his teammates. It's a joint effort in San Diego, and while they may have some great players, the chemistry on the field is nothing compared to the Packers.
When Rodgers takes the field, he commands attention and he has the respect of his teammates. I'm not saying that Rivers doesn't. What's more, it didn't hurt that he started learning from Brett Favre when he came out of college.
Whether Philip Rivers ends up having a great year or not, he is still a great quarterback. Aaron Rodgers has just managed to achieve bigger accomplishments than him, and in a shorter time.
