LSU vs. Alabama Predictions: Which Stars Will Shine Brightest on Saturday?
The “Game of the Century” between LSU and Alabama is brimming with NFL talent in every facet of the game. From Trent Richardson to Morris Claiborne, we could be watching more future NFL stars in this one game than we have in years.
So which of these stars will shine the brightest this Saturday?
For Alabama, that player will probably be linebacker Dont’a Hightower. LSU runs the ball a lot and Hightower is the team’s leading tackler and is second on the team in tackles for a loss. He also has five quarterback hurries on the season.
At 6’4”, 260 lbs, he is one of the most intimidating linebackers in the game and can do things like this to opponents when he gets the opportunity.
Trent Richardson may also may have his star shine a little bit as well, but LSU has stopped many of the nation’s top running backs including LaMichael James, Vick Ballard, Michael Dyer, and Chris Rainey.
For LSU, the star that will likely emerge is one of the Tigers' stud defensive ends, Sam Montgomery or Barkevious Mingo.
They are both sophomores but have been playing like seniors. They each have four sacks on the season; Montgomery has seven more tackles, but Mingo has a forced fumble and a defended pass.
On an LSU defense with Morris Claiborne and Tyrann Mathieu, they will need to do something extraordinary to get noticed, but considering how much Alabama likes to run the ball, they should be getting a lot of tackles, and the Tide’s offensive line is allowing a sack and a half per game.
