Week 9 Fantasy Football Start Em Sit Em: Julio Jones and More Surprise Start Ems

Wes ODonnellNov 2, 2011

Sometimes the best fantasy plays are the riskiest.

There are always matchups to exploit, but you just have to know which ones are going to earn you points and which ones are going to earn big points.

This week is no exception and there are plenty of surprises to throw into your flex spots this week or even gamble with on a tight end.

Here are some of the best surprise "start ems" to exploit defensive matchups in Week 9.

Scott Chandler, TE, Bills

The Buffalo tight end erupted for a two-touchdown outing in Week 8, but only had two catches.

This week the Bills have to feature him more against the Jets' secondary. Stevie Johnson and David Nelson will be blanketed all day by Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie respectively.

But Chandler, who is a distinct mismatch against Jim Leonhard and Eric Smith at safety, will make the most of his size.

Look for Fitzpatrick to depend on the big tight end more than ever this week.

Julio Jones, WR, Falcons

The rookie wide receiver is back on the field for the first time in two weeks and don't be surprised if the Falcons look to get him involved early.

He was just starting to hit stride prior to his injury and now takes the field against one of the league's worst defenses.

The Falcons, and Matt Ryan specifically, are very comfortable in domes.

Look for Jones to get in on the scoring barrage this week against the Colts.

Ed Dickson, TE, Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens tight end has been targeted 49 times (tied for second most with Ray Rice behind Anquan Boldin) but hasn't been a solid contributor in every game.

This week he takes on a Steelers team that could be missing as many as three of its starting four linebackers and Dickson put his highest points total of the fantasy year on Pittsburgh in Week 1.

He has the potential to be a playmaker in this offense but needs to be more consistent.

The Steelers' safeties will have to be very busy with new linebackers in front of them, so look for Dickson to get increased looks.
