Pacquiao vs. Marquez: Reasons Why Pacquiao Will Knock Him out
Motivation is everything.
And Manny Pacquiao has plenty of it in his upcoming fight against Juan Manuel Marquez. From ESPN:
"Pacquiao said he's been looking forward to this fight ever since Marquez wore a shirt which read, "Marquez Beat Pacquiao Twice!!" last November after defeating Michael Katsidis to retain his lightweight titles. Pacquiao defeated Marquez by a split decision in 2008, and their first fight in 2004 ended in a draw.
"He's been claiming that he's won the last two fights," Pacquiao said. "I need to go in and end all these issues. This fight will be the answer to all the doubts and all the issues he's been screaming for."
"
In boxing, there is one sure way to erase any doubts about whether or not you're better than the other guy—knock him out. If you're in the business of reading tea leaves, it would appear Pacquiao has that in mind.
Of course, he's not the sort that will just come out and say that.
But Shane Mosley is. From Fighthype:
""I think that [Marquez] is too small. He might be able to, because Pacquiao is, to me, is not technically all that, so he might be able to catch Pacquiao with some stuff, but when Pacquiao catches him, if Pacquiao has the same stuff that he had with me, if he catches him with a touch, then Marquez is going down."
"
And honestly, a knockout in this fight would generate a lot more buzz in the continuing Pacquiao-Mayweather saga than a decision would. The motivation, the opportunity and the incentive are there for a knockout.
Expect Marquez to fall.
