Manny Pacquiao Video: Pac-Man KOs Fake Sergio Martinez in New Commercial

Adam WellsNov 2, 2011

Manny Pacquiao is busy getting ready for a fight with Juan Manuel Marquez, but that is not stopping advertisers from putting him in the ring with Sergio Martinez to sell deodorant.

Rexona, known as Degree in the United States, has come up with a 30-second spot featuring Pacquiao in the ring with Martinez.

In the commercial, Martinez is unable to land a punch on Pacquiao, who proceeds to drop him with one punch while not breaking a sweat.

Marketing geniuses!

Martinez has been begging for a fight with Pacquiao for a long time, but he is being ignored because he is one of the best fighters in the world.

Pacquiao  doesn't want to deal with that.

Pacquiao is comfortable beating up on fighters he has already defeated (Marquez) or fighters who used to be a big deal but now just need the money (Shane Mosley).

The ad is funny from the standpoint that it shows Pacquiao fighting someone he doesn't even appear to know exists.

But when you are a superstar like Pacquiao, you can get away with certain things others can't or wouldn't try to.

But this could also be a sign Pacquiao is aware of Martinez's presence, and this is his way of letting Martinez know what will happen if they do eventually lock horns.

I find it strange Rexona wouldn't use Marquez in the ad, considering the two are are fighting next weekend. This could have been used as promotion for a real fight, not an imaginary one.

I don't know who decided on Martinez, but they didn't plan this very well. But I guess that is why they get paid big bucks to make commercials and I don't.
