Fantasy Football Week 15 Rankings: Tight Ends

Michael WhooleyDec 11, 2008

With 14 weeks of the fantasy season in the books, it's pretty safe to assume that the first tight end that will come off the boards in 2009 will be none other than "Touchdown" Tony Gonzalez. Currently, the only tight end sitting above the 100 point mark at 123, Gonzo has once again secured stud status.

But, how will things play out for the remaining tight ends after Tony G comes off the boards in 2009 drafts? That's a little more foggy, as is which tight ends besides Gonzalez will perform in this all important week 15.

Luckily, the Bruno Boys have you covered for that second question with the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 15 Tight End Rankings.

1. Tony Gonzalez (Kansas City Chiefs) vs. San Diego

With 123 fantasy points on the season, Gonzalez has 33 more points than his closest challenger (Jason Witten at 90). With Gonzalez facing the 30th ranked pass defense of the Chargers, the gap should grow even larger after week 15.

Point Projection: 17 points

2. Antonio Gates (San Diego Chargers) @ Kansas City

Just a month ago, it appeared Gates was returning to his pro bowl form; however, five combined fantasy points over the past four weeks reveals that wasn't the case. However, his owners may be willing to forgive Gates if he's able to deliver in week 15 during the fantasy football playoffs. Going up against the Chiefs, a team he had 12 fantasy points against earlier this season, Gates has a chance to do just that.

Point Projection: 12 points

3. Jason Witten (Dallas Cowboys) vs. New York Giants

Witten's busted route in the 4th quarter against the Steelers, which allowed DeShea Townsend to capitalize with a pick six, could very well cost the Cowboys a chance at the playoffs. But, don't expect the Cowboys to shy away from the tight end over the final three games of the season because that's a sure way of making sure they're not playing playoff football.

Point Projection: 12 points

4. Dallas Clark (Indianapolis Colts) vs. Detroit

With just 71 fantasy points on the season, Clark has failed to live up to his owners expectations. After all, the man had 66 fantasy points on just TDs alone last season. But, really, besides Tony Gonzalez, which tight end is living up to their expectations. Clark did get a score last week against a poor Bengals pass defense, and he should do the same in week 15 against a Lions team that's allowed 19 passing TDs on the year.

Point Projection: 10 points

5. John Carlson (Seattle Seahawks) @ St. Louis

If there's been one bright spot in what has been a dismal season for the Seahawks, it's Carlson. The rookie is averaging a solid 62.6 yards per game over the Seahawks last three contests and has two TDs in that time span. He's more involved in the offense than he was during his previous match-up with the Rams, an outing that yielded just three fantasy points, thus it's safe to expect a bigger day this time around.

Point Projection:  8 points

6. Chris Cooley (Washington Redskins) @ Cincinnati

The Washington Redskins as a whole have cooled down as the team has scored 10 or less points in four of their last five games, helping to place the team's points per game average under 17 to 16.8. The low point total partly explains why Cooley is struggling to put up fantasy points. The good news is that the Bengals are giving up 26.5 points per game, which should lead to better production out of the Skins' offense.

Point Projection: 8 points

7. Kevin Boss (New York Giants) @ Dallas

In week 14, the New York Giants struggled to put things together on the offensive side of the ball, Boss, who had just one catch for five yards, included. Don't look for two stinkers in a row from the G-men, nor from Boss as the tight end already put up nine fantasy points against the Cowboys earlier this season.

Point Projection: 8 points
