Just Make Peace With the Fans Coach Rod

Scott PauleyFeb 10, 2008
In the ever evolving conflict surrounding the departure of Coach Rod, I would like to make one simple request.
Although I feel that the fault of this college football mockery does not lie solely with Coach Rod, he should address the fans and tell us what he thinks we need to hear.
Coach Rod, in most of my blog entries on www.thankscoachrod.com, I would put a line though the title of Coach in front of your name to help illustrate my frustration.

However, this one time, I am pleading to you for some sort of resolution with the Mountaineer Faithful, so I will submit to the demeaning gesture this once.

Coach Rod, issue a statement, give an interview, write a letter to the editor of every newspaper in WV, or whatever you feel would help the Mountaineer fans to oscillate once again.
Coach Rod, we are tired of hearing all of the stories from the news sources.
We are WAY tired of hearing from your agent, Mike Brown.
Can we please hear from you. I think if we ALL were honest, we can accept the fact that the administration didn't help much, but you chose to leave over things that could have been overlooked for the sake of the respect you had gained.
Your giving up and leaving surely was not indicative of all your pep talks to the team and fans.

If I can be be honest, I may have to think about it, but (not that anyone would actually give you the chance) I might even accept you back someday to coach.
Although, it would come down to your tact and honesty to the fans and the state of West Virginia now.

I can understand not wanting to say much during recruiting and your first days at a new school, but once you actually sign the contract at Michigan, and before it's too late, will you please consider imploring to the fans your true feelings.
I know you are sorry for some of the things that have happened, so be the leader that you are and just let it out.
You were once WV's favorite son. Now a mere prodigal.
One of these days you may "come to yourself" and want to come home. Will you be accepted?
What you do now will ultimately have an effect on what happens on that day.
Coach Rod, congratulations on the new job. I am always happy to see someone from West Virginia do well in life.
Face it, this state doesn't get a lot of recognition for good things. Most of the animosity could go away if you just let your feelings show one more time.
Whadda' ya say Coach?  How 'bout them 'Eers...
