Atlanta Hawks Are Dying of Inconsistency

So far this season, the Atlanta Hawks have been playing pretty good basketball. However, they are not the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Orlando Magic, or the Boston Celtics yet. The reason why they are not up to an elite level is the fact that they are extremely inconsistent. Here are some reasons for their inconsistent start.

 

1. Marvin Williams and Josh Smith:

Neither Marvin Williams nor Josh Smith has had good back-to-back games. They will have a tremendous game followed by a 2-11 shooting night. For the Hawks to be successful, Williams and Smith have to do a lot more.

2. Maurice Evans and Flip Murray:

Evans and Murray were tremendous signings in the off-season. They have made the Hawks more deep as a whole. However, their inconsistency has made it tough on the Hawks lately. When some of the starters are struggling, Evans and Murray are counted on to pick up the slack. That has only been happening part of the time.

3. Inability to finish games:

The Hawks have been competitive in most of their games this season. They have not learned to close out games very well though. I have watched the Hawks blow lead after lead after starting the game strongly. With the increased depth of the bench, the Hawks should not have this problem as much. Until they learn to close out games, they will be a mid-level team.
