NFL Predictions: 10 Players Who Will Not Finish the Year

Brian RoachNov 3, 2011

Year in and year out, it seems that NFL superstars are kicked out of their starting roles or just seem to call it quits. NFL predictions are hard to make, but sometimes it is clear when a player struggles on the field.

There are 10 players in the NFL that are going to be out of the NFL by the end of the season, or just out of their starting roles.

Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans

1 of 10

Chris Johnson has struggled mightily in 2011. With only one 100-yard rushing game so far in 2011, Johnson has averaged 2.8 yards per carry and has only one rushing touchdown.

Johnson signed a huge contract and held out in training camp in 2011 to get this contract. This could be one of the factors that has led to his failures on the field.

Johnson was one of the elite running backs in the NFL, but he could be sitting on the bench and Javon Ringer could get the starting spot, if Johnson does not start improving his yardage on the field.

Carson Palmer, Oakland Raiders

2 of 10

Carson Palmer had three interceptions in his debut a couple weeks ago, and if that continues, Palmer could be riding the bench for the Raiders.

Palmer has been a pretty good quarterback for the Bengals, but if he struggles to get the Raiders to win over the next several weeks, then the Raiders will be looking for a replacement. Hopefully, Jason Campbell can return soon to help the Raiders make it into the playoffs.

Tarvaris Jackson, Seattle Seahawks

3 of 10

Tarvaris Jackson entered the second quarter of last week's game against the Cincinnati Bengals and is getting the nod to start this coming week against the Dallas Cowboys.

If Jackson can right the ship in Seattle, then he keeps the starting job. However, if he fails to get the job done, then he will be the one to lose playing time.

Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos

4 of 10

The Broncos are in "win-now" mode, and the Tim Tebow experiment could be in jeopardy if he doen't win at least one of his next two starts.

Kyle Orton was taken out of the starting job due to his poor play, so if Tebow struggles over the next couple starts, expect Orton to run the Broncos' offense again.

Chad Ochocinco, New England Patriots

5 of 10

Let's face it Patriots fans. The Ochocinco show has not worked out at all in 2011. The Patriots paid him $6 million to basically sit on the sidelines and tweet.

Ochocinco will be on the bench when he lacks production and could possibly retire if he does not feel he is wanted by another team in the NFL.

Donovan McNabb, Minnesota Vikings

6 of 10

McNabb has been replaced by Chris Ponder, and it seems as if Ponder will be the starting quarterback for the Vikings until he struggles passing the ball.

McNabb was supposed to be the hero for the Vikings, but that didn't work out. No other teams need his help and if he doesn't get to play soon, then I could see him retiring before season's end.

Christian Ponder, Minnesota Vikings

7 of 10

Ponder has been a godsend for the Vikings, but when he starts to struggle, the Vikings could look back toward McNabb to get the job done.

Ponder needs to play well the next several weeks to keep his job as starting QB locked down.

Mike Williams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

8 of 10

Williams had 11 touchdowns in the 2010-11 NFL season, but has only one touchdown and 317 yards.

He is targeted 11th most in the NFL with 63 targets, but if he doesn't start catching these soon, then the Bucs will look towards another WR to get the job done for Josh Freeman.

Reggie Bush, Miami Dolphins

9 of 10

Reggie Bush is the leading rusher for the Dolphins with 335 yards, but Daniel Thomas is right behind him with 302 rushing yards.

Bush had a huge game with 102 rushing yards against the New York Giants, but he still has a way to go to secure the starting job with the Dolphins.

Thomas will get the job before the end of the season if Bush continues to struggle carrying the ball.

Kevin Faulk, New England Patriots

10 of 10

Faulk has been a major asset for the Patriots for his entire career, but maybe his time is up in New England. With multiple other running backs to take his place. Faulk could end up being the odd man out before the 2011-12 season is over.

If this happens, Faulk could retire before the season is up or he could find another team that sees him as valuable.
