Fantasy Hoops Waiver Wire Bin (Vol. 5)
I’ve scoured the fantasy baskeball waiver wires to find gems, so you don’t have to.
Guards
Derek Fisher, Los Angeles Lakers - Fisher has picked up his play a bit over the past week. In his last four games, he’s averaged 12.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals, and 2.3 three-pointers while shooting 53.3% from the field, 60% from downtown, and 100% from the line. He’s owned in just 31 percent of Yahoo leagues.
Larry Hughes, Chicago - Larry’s M.O. is if he’s healthy, he produces. Of course, he always seems to be nicked up. In his last five games, he’s averaged 15.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.8 steals, 0.4 blocks, and 2.8 three-pointers. He shot 51.9% from the floor, 63.6% from behind the arc, and 83.3% from the stripe. He’s owned in just 31% of Yahoo leagues and qualifies at PG, SG, and SF.
Forwards
Chris Andersen, Denver - The Birdman, whose ESPN photo looks like a long-haired friend of mine named Eddie D, has been a big bonus if you’re looking to add blocks. Over his last five games, he’s averaged 6.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.4 blocks, and 0.8 steals. He shot 40.9% from the floor and 78.9% from the line. He’s owned in just 5% of Yahoo leagues and qualifies at both PF and C.
Anderson Varejao, Cleveland - The Brazilian has increased his scoring load in recent games for the Cavs. Perhaps it’s because they are blowing teams out that guys like LeBron and Mo Williams are getting some rest. In his last five games, he’s averaged 11.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.6 blocks. He shot 54.8% from the floor and 66.7% from the line. He’s owned in 30% for Yahoo leagues and qualifies at both PF & C.
Center
Matt Bonner, San Antonio - Bonner picked up his play last week averaging 12.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 0.5 steals, 0.8 blocks, and 1.8 three-pointers. In those four games he shot 70% from the floor, 63.6% from three, and 100% from the line. He’s owned in 11 percent of Yahoo leagues and qualifies at both PF & C.
