NFL Power Rankings: Which Teams Are League's Biggest Teases?

John RozumOct 31, 2011

Some teams to this point have yet to truly find their identity, despite having a winning record or previous success.

And with past performance never being a guarantee of future success, here are the three teams who are the biggest teases in pro football.

New England Patriots (5-2)

Sure it's nice having Tom Brady under center and a head coach in Bill Belichick. But have the Pats beat a team with a legit offense yet?

You could make the argument about San Diego, but all of their wins have come against teams with a combined record of 7-21. The only other teams who New England has played with legit offenses were Buffalo and Pittsburgh. And guess what, those happen to be their two losses.

So, until New England proves they can stop a good offense while putting up points against a good defense, the Pats not only are a tease, but they will disappoint by season's end.

New York Giants (5-2)

The Giants may be more frustrating to watch than a tease, but nonetheless, it's still irritating. Not sure how a team can beat the Eagles in Philly but then lose to Seattle at home and barely overcome the winless Dolphins at home.

We'll know a lot more about New York as the season progresses since their remaining schedule is arguably the most difficult.

Their biggest issue is inside the trenches, because not only do they allow 130 rush yards per game, but they only gain 85 per game. Eli Manning is a solid QB, but he's not good enough to win games when solely relied on. That said, the verdict isn't quite yet out on the Giants.

New Orleans Saints (5-3)

We may look at the Saints loss to the Rams in St. Louis as a choke-job, and that the Rams came to play. But, the loss really isn't all that surprising when you delve into The Big Easy.

New Orleans may be 5-3, but they're 2-3 on the road and 1-2 in their last three games. They simply can't play consistently well on the road. Sure they won in Carolina and Jacksonville, but so have Minnesota/Green Bay (in Carolina) and Houston/Cincinnati (in Jacksonville).

The Saints have trouble on the road and it will be their Achilles Heel. And if you need more proof, just watch their 2010 Wild Card meltdown on the road in Seattle, as well as the NFC Championship beat-down the Bears gave them in 2006.

So until they prove they can win on the road on a more consistent basis, New Orleans is a tease.
