Kim Kardashian: Why Marriage to Kris Humphries Was More Publicity Than Love
Ladies and gentlemen, our long national nightmare is about to begin all over again. After two long months of marriage, Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries are tired of trying to work things out and are headed for divorce.ย
According to TMZ, the straw that broke the camel's back was not her constant partying and need for attention or hisย frivolous spending habits. Rather, it came down to where they were going to live.ย
"Sources close to the former couple tell TMZ ... one of the main points of contention in the marriage was where the couple would live after all of the wedding madness finally died down.ย ย
"
We're told Kris was passionate about eventually settling down in Minnesota, where he's from ... and believed Kim was on board with the plan. She wasn't.ย
Sources tell us Kim -- who's from L.A. -- wants to stay near her family ...and she also feels that staying in town is the best thing for her career. ย
First, it's fun that Kim thinks what she has is a "career."
This whole marriage did not make a lot of sense when it was announced, but as we have seen things unfold over the last two months, it is clear that this "marriage" was more about the Kardashian's reality show and ratings than an actual love between these two people.ย
To think that E!, the network that broadcasts the Kardashian family exploits each week, has played no part in their life and who they go out with is ridiculous. If the network told her that being an upstanding citizen would drive ratings, she would figure out a way to make people think it's true. Plus, Humphries was the perfect athlete for Kim to "date." He is an NBA player, but he is so insignificant to the media and public that he would not take any of the spotlight away from her.ย
Marriage is hard, but it's not that bad when you have a network telling you what to do and you don't actually talk about your future and things like where you are going to live before you decide to walk down the alter.ย
And so it is with this that we put the epitaph on the Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries' marriage. "The best couple ever arranged by a television network: Kim K and Kris, 2011-2011."
