Dallas Cowboys: Winners and Losers from Pokes' Loss vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Today, the Dallas Cowboys had a very disappointing loss against the Philadelphia Eagles, and seemed to roll over and die tonight in Philadelphia. The Cowboys will have a week to get over this loss before they take on Seattle, but for now, here are the winners and losers from tonight's game.
Winner: Michael Vick
1 of 6After weeks of inconsistency leading the dream team, Michael Vick gave the Cowboys fits tonight throwing for 279 yards and rushing for 50 yards.
Throughout his career, Vick has always been an incredible athlete and extremely fun to watch.
However, his ability to be a conventional passer and lead his team to a Super Bowl has been questioned.
While it’s not time to declare the Eagles as the favorites in the NFC, Vick excelled today and this could be a victory that gets him some momentum.
Winner: LeSean McCoy
2 of 6The Eagles offensive attack did not just come from Vick.
LeSean McCoy dominated the Cowboys today as he went for 185 yards and two touchdowns against the Cowboys.
McCoy is an All-Pro running back and tonight he showed how he can dominate a game and is the catalyst for an Eagles’ victory.
The NFC East is tight right now, but McCoy may have proved tonight that he is the best running back in the division.
Winner: DeMarco Murray
3 of 6Last week, DeMarco Murray had a breakout game against the St. Louis Rams and appeared to be the answer for the Cowboys running game.
He is a winner as he had 74 yards on just eight carries, but I can’t help but wonder why he didn’t get more carries?
Murray averaged 9.3 yards per carry tonight and could have been the focus of the Cowboys offense.
Nevertheless, he still had a solid game.
Winner: DeMarcus Ware
4 of 6The Dallas Cowboys can look back and find a few reasons they lost tonight’s game.
But one thing is clear; none of those reasons involve DeMarcus Ware.
Ware had 11 tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble tonight.
On a night where the Dallas Cowboys defense seemed to do nothing all night, DeMarcus Ware continues to prove week in and week out why he is one of the most dominant forces in the NFL.
Loser: The Cowboys Defense
5 of 6There could be a lot of names that could be thrown in here, but all in all, the Cowboys defense did not show up to play tonight.
While most defenses have one soft spot, the Cowboys struggled giving up yards in the air and on the ground and the Eagles were able to mix the run and pass well.
At the end of the day, the Cowboys defense did not show up.
Loser: Jason Garrett
6 of 6This was mentioned briefly before, but I do not understand why the Cowboys gave DeMarco Murray only eight carries.
While Garrett may not be to blame for his defense not making plays, he could have given Murray around 20 carries.
What also must be considered is that Philadelphia has a strong secondary and a very weak linebacker core.
Garrett should have exploited this by giving Murray more carries forcing Philly to load the box.
Let’s hope Garrett adjusts his play calling next week, but knowing Garrett, his play calling will probably remain suspect.
