Week 9 Waiver Wire: Don't Overreact and Drop Broncos' Tim Tebow Just Yet

Eric BallOct 31, 2011

Hopefully you didn't watch the 45-10 beatdown that the Detroit Lions handed the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

Tim Tebow was awful.

He was antsy in the pocket, inaccurate and had two turnovers that directly lead to Lions TDs.

There is no way to put a positive spin on things. Then again, fantasy-wise, he still put up decent numbers.

Tebow finished with 172 passing yards and a touchdown through the air. He collected another 63 on the ground. That's double-digit points, folks.

In other words, Tebow played one of the worst games ever seen by a quarterback and yet still had a decent fantasy day. I'm not going to tell you he will magically turn into a perfect QB at Oakland next week, but I think it's safe to say this is rock bottom for Tebow Time.

His ability to run the ball with great consistency is huge in fantasy, as is his 240-pound frame around the goal line. He is the man in the red zone and is going to be involved in virtually every Broncos touchdown. His accuracy numbers are never going to be pretty, but that doesn't have any effect on his fantasy numbers.

Remember last week's 55-minute stinker that turned into a miracle comeback? He registered two TDs and a two-point conversion in the span of four minutes.

How many players are capable of doing as much? Certainly not Kevin Kolb or Alex Smith.

Tebow is a long ways away from making the Broncos a good team, but he is still worth starting every week in fantasy. With weak pass defenses in New England, Buffalo, Minnesota and Kansas City still on the slate, Tebow will only get better as the season goes along.

Ignore Week 8.
