Chiefs vs. Chargers on Monday Night Football: Fantasy Football Sleepers

Farzin VousoughianOct 30, 2011

It's Monday Night Football on Halloween in Kansas City. The Chiefs and Chargers are fighting for the lead in the AFC West. Both teams are fired up, but the Chiefs have more momentum with a three-game winning streak coming into Arrowhead Stadium.

For all of you fantasy football players in need of some serious points, start Kansas City's defense tonight against the Chargers.

Philip Rivers is not playing like himself this season as he currently has seven touchdown passes and nine interceptions. At this rate, Rivers will have a career-high for most interceptions thrown in a single season.

Rivers has had only one game this season where he has thrown more touchdowns than interceptions. Tonight is not the night to start Rivers on your fantasy squad.

On the other hand Kansas City's defense is coming off of a dominant performance with six interceptions as a team. Two of them were taken back for interceptions against the Oakland Raiders.

The Chiefs are in the top five in the league in interceptions, yards returned off of interceptions and touchdowns scored off of interceptions.

You have to consider the fact that Rivers is struggling and the Chiefs are coming off of their biggest game of the season defensively. Along with that, the Chiefs and Chargers will play football before a national audience on Monday Night Football with first place on the line in the AFC West.

As one of the best pass-rushers in the league, Tamba Hali will apply pressure on Rivers all night long. Hali will force Rivers to throw some unnecessary passes that will turn into interceptions. Brandon Flowers currently has four interceptions and has no hopes to have a big game after earning two interceptions, taking one back for a touchdown against the Raiders last week.

Go with Kansas City's defense tonight. You won't regret it. With Rivers struggling this season, it is a safe move to make for your fantasy team.
