BCS Rankings: South Carolina Gamecocks and More Severely Overrated Teams
There was a point and time during the 2011 college football season when I was a firm believer in the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Since, we've seen their senior starting quarterback implode, and their Heisman trophy running back get lost for the year due to injury.
While I do think they are still a good team, I have a very hard time trusting them as a top 10 team.
They have only lost one game though, so It's understandable how the BCS rankings would project them at No. 9.
Simply put, the Gamecocks are overrated, but they aren't the only top 10 team that is ranked far too high.
Check it out:
South Carolina
While I do feel the Gamecocks are a worthy BCS team I think No. 9 is a little bit overrated for a team that doesn't have the services of Marcus Lattimore.
Keep in mind they just beat up on a Tennessee team that was starting a true freshman in his very first game, so the numbers are a bit skewed.
Boise State
With only a win against ranked Georgia under their belt, it's almost embarrassing to see Boise State ranked No. 5 in the nation. I know that this is a played out argument, but their strength of schedule is absolutely ridiculous.
Arkansas
If you watched the Razorbacks barely beat Vanderbilt this Saturday then you would agree they are majorly overrated. While they do deserve to be a BCS team, putting them at No. 7 even though they've almost blown two huge leads to inferior opponents is just ridiculous.
