BCS Rankings Week 10: Oregon Must Defeat Stanford to Finally Get Respect
Wait for it. Wait for it, that is exactly how the Oregon Ducks have to feel after being consistently disrespected by the BCS.
I understand the undefeated teams ahead of Oregon, even though I believe they are better than Stanford. But I certainly can't understand being placed below Oklahoma and especially Arkansas, all one-loss teams.
Oklahoma is truly a national powerhouse, but their loss to Texas Tech was made to look even worse after the Red Raiders were subsequently blown away this week by an unranked Iowa St. team.
They did respond very well with a dominating performance over the Kansas State Wildcats. Much like the Ducks have responded after their lone loss this season.
As for Arkansas, they could easily be a three- or four-loss team with as many near misses as they've had this season. It is true, their lone loss is to Alabama, but it was by a whopping 24 points.
The Ducks only loss this year is to the No. 1 team in the BCS, LSU. That loss took place on a neutral field, but it was only by 13 points.
No team has been closer than two touchdowns since that loss in the opening week. The only way the Ducks will be able to grab the respect they deserve is to knock off media darling Andrew Luck and Stanford in Week 11.
They will have to do it on the road, but if that win isn't statement enough, I'm not sure what it will take.
The Ducks are one of the four best teams in college football, I'm waiting on the BCS to recognize that fact.
