NFL Picks Week 9: Which Teams Don't Have a Tebow ?
Four games for NFL Week 9 involve an underdog that has no real Tebow (prayer) of winning.
The two Luck Bowl contenders, the Miami Dolphins and the Indianapolis Colts, lead the list. The Washington Redskins and the Denver Broncos are close behind.
The St. Louis Rams and the Arizona Cardinals are spared making the list because they are playing each other.
John Beck Can't Do It All
1 of 8John Beck of the Washington Redskins must be having second thoughts of getting the starting job at quarterback. The Buffalo Bills sacked him nine times this week.
Beck is getting no help from the running game and no help from the offensive line. Tight end Fred Davis seems to be the only player coming to play the game each week.
The Redskins' promising start to the season has quickly faded. After the Week 9 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, they should be back to their customary position in last place in the NFC East.
Frank Gore Should Continue His Roll
2 of 8In each of the recent weeks Frank Gore has rushed for over 100 yards and scored a touchdown.
This should continue against the Redskins, as the 49ers improve their record to 7-1. They have had road victories at Philadelphia, Cincinnati and Detroit, so winning at Washington should not be a problem.
The Luck Bowl
3 of 8The Indianapolis Colts are still the leading contestant for the first draft pick and the rights to Andrew Luck. The defense has been giving up over 30 points per game on average. This is the worst in the league.
I can't find any reason to believe that the Colts can win the game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Good Pressure from the Falcons Defensive Line
4 of 8The pressure from the Atlanta Falcons' defensive line has contributed to their two recent victories. They did not record a large number of sacks, but the constant pressure on Cam Newton and Matt Stafford kept both quarterbacks from getting comfortable in the pocket.
This trend should continue against Curtis Painter and the Colts.
Empty Gaurantees
5 of 8Brandon Marshall can predict wins, but they don't seem to happen. The Miami Dolphins have been competitive, but they have lost three games, including the last two, by three or fewer points.
Such close losses can demoralize a team. I don't think the Dolphins will show up for the game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs Have Found Their Running Back
6 of 8It took the Kansas City Chiefs a few weeks to figure out how to replace Jamaal Charles.
Well, now they have that solved. Jackie Battle has taken good opportunity of his chance to play. He has been a key reason why the Chiefs followed losses in the first three games with wins in the next three.
The Chiefs shouldn't have much trouble with the Miami Dolphins.
Things Are Harder When You Aren't Playing the Dolphins
7 of 8Well, the Denver Broncos and Tim Tebow certainly came back to earth after their comeback win against the Miami Dolphins.
They were thrashed by the Detroit Lions 45-10. I can't find any reason to think they can beat the Oakland Raiders.
Palmer Will Know More Than 15 Plays
8 of 8With more practice time, Carson Palmer should know more than 15 plays for the game against the Broncos.
Palmer will out-duel whichever quarterback the Broncos start and give the Raiders a comfortable victory.
