Cowboys vs Eagles: Rookie RB DeMarco Murray Will Lead Cowboys to Victory

Austin GreenOct 30, 2011

Rookie running back DeMarco Murray was unstoppable last week, and I'm expecting a similar performance from him tonight against Philadelphia.

I'm not saying he'll rack up 253 yards again, but I think Murray can go well over the century mark against a porous Eagles run defense.

The Eagles are giving up 123.8 rushing yards per game, which is 23rd in the NFL. They've also allowed six rushing touchdowns (t-10th most in NFL) and 4.8 yards per carry (sixth worst in NFL).

Murray has only carried the ball 50 times in his young pro career, so he's certainly not a known commodity yet. Cowboys fans should wait for at least a few good games from him before they declare him as the next great Dallas running back.

However, his lack of experience can actually be an advantage against Philly, as weird as that sounds.

With so few professional carries, the Eagles have a very limited amount of game film to study. It's very tough to pinpoint a player's tendencies off so few appearances, so Murray can catch yet another team off guard.

Philadelphia, the self-proclaimed "Dream Team," has come crashing back down to earth in the early part of this season. I expect their woes to continue in Week 8, as they will have no answer for the Cowboys' explosive rookie tailback.

Look for at least 130 yards and two scores for Murray tonight.

Prediction: Dallas 27, Philadelphia 21
