Tony Scheffler did a lot to help the Broncos and their fans while he was a member of the team. On Sunday, he did something to hurt them both.
Scheffler scored a TD on a nicely called play on a pass from Matt Stafford. Previously on the drive, Scheffler had pulled down a circus catch to help setup the TD.
Scheffler left the Broncos a bit bitterly as the Broncos went with Josh McDaniels as head coach. It is fair to group Scheffler's exit and the spirit behind it with Jay Cutler's.
McDaniels has since been relieved of his duties, but it seems obvious there are still some bad feelings left in Scheffler's heart.
He is charged for this game and really trying to take it to his former mates. His Detroit Lions teammates have taken on an in-your-face attitude and this is just the most recent example of that new identity.
The Lions have long been the doormat of the NFL, and now they are building a significant amount of swagger.
Scheffler seems like an unlikely candidate for rubbing it in an opponent's face, but when you consider the history and the influence, all bets are off.
This action was preceded by a mocking of a Tebowing by Stephen Tulloch after a sack of the Broncos' polarizing QB.
This is a new Detroit Lions team, and the NFL is on notice.
