Fantasy Football Week 8: Tony Romo, Matt Cassel and Players You Shouldn't Trust

Andrew KulhaOct 30, 2011

Trust is of the utmost importance when talking about NFL fantasy football, and one bad matchup or week can completely ruin the trust an owner has with a player.

If a guy can't be a consistent fantasy football option than you might as well learn to not trust him. Trust in your instincts as an owner and in a player's track record.

There are still quite a few players that are available as fantasy options moving into the tail end of this weekend, mostly on Sunday and Monday night.

Here are a few options that you really shouldn't trust on your fantasy team:

Tony Romo, QB Dallas Cowboys

Romo has been incredibly inconsistent this season and a matchup with Nnamdi Asomugha and the Eagles isn't going to help him out.

Granted the Eagles have been very disappointing, but they absolutely need this game. They are going to play desperate, and I think they will force Romo into a few mistakes.

As a fantasy football owner trusting in him as your starting quarterback that is the last thing you need in this week's matchup.

Matt Cassel, QB Kansas City Chiefs

I can't remember many quarterbacks as of late that have been as disappointing as Cassel. When he filled in for Tom Brady with the Patriots it looked like he could have potentially been an All-Pro quarterback.

While he hasn't been terrible, he hasn't lived up to expectations. He's got a matchup with the San Diego Chargers this week on Monday Night Football that is going to be pressure-packed.

The Chargers are beat up physically and need this win pretty badly after dropping a close one to the Jets last week. It looks to be a bad matchup for Cassel, so I'd suggest taking another option at quarterback.

DeSean Jackson, WR Philadelphia Eagles

Where has Jackson been this year? With only 24 catches and two touchdowns on the season there is no doubting that he is easily one of the most disappointing fantasy options of 2011.

While he does have a good matchup against Dallas' secondary, I can't trust him enough to tell you that he's a good option. The numbers don't lie in this instance.
