Pacquiao vs. Marquez: Manny Will Punish Marquez for Decisive Victory
Manny is done with Juan Manuel Marquez. He will wash his hands of the perennial contender on Saturday night.
The previous two times that the two met was in smaller weight classes. This certainly benefits Marquez. But now, Saturday's championship bout will take place at welterweight. This is a weight class that Manny is much more comfortable with at this stage of his career.
In one previous bout at 147 pounds, Marquez was severely outclassed by Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Granted, it was Mayweather, but Marquez has never looked so bad and so slow.
That tells me he is carrying too much weight and that factor is going to get him thrashed. Marquez is by nature, a counter-puncher. Waiting to get off against a fighter with the speed and power of Pacquiao is a recipe for a long night.
Marquez will be punished with power shot leads in Round 1 and it will continue throughout. Countering can be effective against a fighter with more speed, but not when the advantage is as big as this one figures to be.
Many will clamor for the super-fight to take place after this, pitting Pac-Man versus Money Mayweather, but that may never happen.
What is more likely is a bout that pits either Amir Khan against Manny Pacquiao. Perhaps talk of that fight being discussed would force the camps to do whatever is necessary to get the two biggest stars in the sport together.
