Denver Broncos: Tim Tebow's World Will Come Crashing Down vs. Lions

Adam WellsOct 30, 2011

Tim Tebow has done the impossible after just one start: He has made the Denver Broncos relevant on a national level. And the beauty of it all is that he did it while playing so terrible for 55 minutes. Things won't be so bright and sunny for him this week against the Detroit Lions

Things right now are as good as they are going to get for Tebow. It is like that scene near the end of Inception when the characters enter the fourth dream layer. Everything looks so beautiful at first, but the buildings are slowly starting to crumble.

Tebow can't continue to play the way he did against the Dolphins if he hopes to remain a starting quarterback in the NFL

Michael Rosenberg of the Detroit Free Press summed up Tebow's game last week as well as anyone:

"

Tebow is coming off a gutsy win over Miami in which he showed his leadership skills by throwing many fiery incompletions. He also led Denver to a comeback win, and even though the Dolphins might be the worst team in the league, comeback wins are still fun.

"

If any other quarterback had played as badly as Tebow did for 97 percent of the game, analysts and fans would have picked him apart.

But because Tebow is who he is, you have to ignore the bad and focus on the good. The problem is that style of play won't work very long, and he will realize that the NFL is not like college.

Running backs in quarterbacks bodies do not have long, successful careers. Tebow has never shown the ability to be an effective passer in the NFL, granted he only has four career starts under his belt.

The Lions present a lot of problems for opposing quarterbacks because of all the talent they have on the defensive line, led by Ndamukong Suh.

Tebow will not be able to run in this game and still has no idea how to throw a ball to an open receiver down the field, so the high that he and the Broncos have been riding all week will be gone in a heartbeat.

All those questions that we had about Tebow's ability to play in the NFL will be brought back to the forefront, but at least we can all start "Tebowing" our problems away.
