BCS Rankings: AP Poll Hints at Potential Newcomers to the Top 25

The AP Top 25 poll is a good indicator to how the BCS rankings will shake out.

Although the Harris Poll, USA Today Coaches Poll and the six computer rankings are the ones with a say on who makes it into the BCS Top 25 and who is on the outside looking in, the AP Poll is still important.

This week, the AP voters decided to drop Texas A&M and Texas Tech from their top 25 after each team lost to unranked opponents.

Auburn and Georgia Tech both jumped back in after solid wins, especially the Yellow Jackets' upset of undefeated Clemson.

There was a lot of shakeup outside of the top five, which remained stable with LSU, Alabama, Oklahoma State, Stanford and Boise State occupying the same one-through-five positions as last week.

I think the BCS is going to drop Clemson hard in its rankings just like the AP did. The Tigers were currently at five but I think Stanford is going to move up and occupy that spot.

Kansas State will also be shot far from the top 10 of the BCS poll and probably find itself in the high teens after being blown out by Oklahoma.

Nebraska should at least switch spots with Michigan State as well, jumping back into the top 10 of the AP poll with its solid win against the Spartans.

I think Houston will be the biggest gainer since the computer portion of the BCS loves margin of victory.

Case Keenum threw nine touchdowns in the Cougars' 73-34 rout of the Rice Owls. They definitely deserve to be ranked just outside if not in the top 10 of the BCS rankings and are constantly proving they are a legitimate team and an offensive force that rivals any team in the nation.

They jumped just four spots in the AP poll (18 to 14) but I could see them going from their current No. 17 spot up to 11 or 12 in the BCS.
