Pacquiao vs. Marquez: Manny Pacquiao Will Knock Out Juan Manuel Marquez

Donald WoodOct 31, 2011

Manny Pacquiao is the WBO Welterweight champion of the world, and he will show why he is the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world when he knocks out Juan Manuel Marquez.

This is the third installment in the war between Marquez and Pacquiao, and Marquez has really been the only fighter that has given Pacquiao trouble over the last few years.

Marquez knows about Pacquiao’s strength and speed, and he has used his fearlessness to make Pacquiao pay for his aggressiveness.

Pacquiao’s  trainer Freddie Roach told the Philippine Daily Inquirer about the fight with Marquez and what he expects:

"

I still say, Manny has become a completely different fighter than the Manny Pacquiao who first fought him (Marquez) a long time ago. This fight won’t last six rounds. [Marquez] looks like he put on some muscle. He’s getting a little stronger. Maybe, he’ll try to exchange with us. I hope that happens.

"

Roach has been right on all accounts over the last three years with Pacquiao and what he will do, and the intensity that Pacman has had through the training process makes this fight feel like a statement fight.

If Pacman knocks out Marquez and calls out Floyd Mayweather, that will be the ultimate challenge and it would leave the ball in Mayweather’s court.

A knockout could do one of two things. It could scare Mayweather further or it can make him realize that he needs to prove his worth.

Either way, this fight has implications far deeper than sending an aging Marquez into retirement.
