Tim Tebow: Is Tebowing More Insult or Honor?

The "Tebowing" phenomenon has reached a critical mass.

What originally started as a humorous photo of Broncos fans kneeling in prayer like Tebow did after the Denver Broncos' come-from-behind victory over the Dolphins has turned into a national craze.

In an interview with the Denver Post, Jared Kleinstein, the owner and originator of Tebowing.com, talked about how this whole thing started.

Kleinstein said the initial picture and the subsequent blog and website were truly meant as a tribute to Tebow. He understands it could be viewed by some as mocking the quarterback, but that was certainly not the intent.

“Love him or hate him, but Tebow fever is contagious,” Kleinstein said. “It’s a lot of fun, and that’s why this worked so well.”

It grew so quickly that other players soon began doing it.

That is Tebow’s teammate, Von Miller, rocking his quarterback's jersey and Tebowing.

Since this fad has continued to grow, Tim Tebow himself was finally approached and asked about it. Many people figured he would be offended by this action, as it could potentially be seen as mocking religion or poking fun at the young QB for his mannerisms.

Tebow actually found it quite awesome.

He quoted the definition on his Twitter and said he "loved it."

The Broncos QB also said he doesn’t care why people do it and points out the good in this newest Internet meme.

"It's not my job to see peoples' reasons behind it, but I know (of a kid) with cancer that tweeted me, 'Tebowing while I'm chemoing' — how cool is that?" Tebow said. "That's worth it right now. If that gives him any encouragement or puts a smile on his face, or gives him encouragement to pray, that's completely awesome."

He added that when he kneels in prayer on the field, he means business:

"It is serious, for me," Tebow said. "At least it's being talked about, and that's a cool thing. If I can help be an example of that, then I look at that as a blessing."

It’s a good thing Tebow is taking this new homage to him in good stride and using it as a positive tool to help people and get his message out rather than getting upset and being a jerk about all of this.
