Ohio State Football Uniforms: Buckeyes Become Latest to Unveil Ugly New Uniforms

Austin GreenOct 29, 2011

The Ohio State Buckeyes have become the latest Division I school to take the field in hideous new uniforms.

They certainly aren't as bad as the ones Maryland unveiled in September (seriously, what were they thinking?), but these are pretty bad.

They have the usual scarlet and grey color scheme, but the designs are just odd. They have grey stripes on the shoulders, red stripes on the pants that start a few inches below the waist, and a random "O" on the side of the pants.

They aren't shocking in any way, they don't really make sense and they're pretty boring overall. Basically, the uniforms are exactly like this year's Buckeyes team.

Ohio State wanted to go retro to hopefully channel past success, so they modeled these uniforms after the 1961 National Championship team.

The 4-3 Buckeyes have no BCS chances, but they can still climb the ranks in the Big Ten. Right now, the uniforms appear to be working, as Ohio State has Wisconsin on upset alert.

The Buckeye's are up by 17-14 as I'm writing this.

Running back Dan Herron is apparently fond of the new uniforms. He's already rushed for more yards today than in any other game this season. He currently has 116 yards on 21 carries.

The Buckeye's new uniforms are pretty ugly, but you can't argue with results. If they upset the No. 15 Badgers, expect OSU to rock the new unis again.
