UFC 137 Results: Donald Cerrone Needs a Title Shot After Destroying Dennis Siver

Richard LangfordOct 29, 2011

Donald Cerrone is ready to fight for the title. This much was clear as he easily dispatched of his UFC 137 opponent Dennis Siver.

Cerrone's Dominance

Cerrone was expected to have an advantage on the mat in this one. He is a solid kick boxer, but Siver was regarded to be his equal, or even superior, in that regard.

Upon further review, that may not be entirely accurate.

Cerrone landed a huge head kick early in the first round, and the fight was essentially over. Siver stayed on his feet and continued to fight, but that only allowed him to hang around long enough to get kicked in the head again and watch the fight get called.

Both shots came on spinning back kicks. Cerrone ended it with a rear naked choke.

What We Learned About Cerrone

Cerrone's striking is elite. As I metnioned, we knew it was good, but he has taken it to another level. Especially his kicks. He will be a force to be reckoned with.

Why He Deserves a Title Shot

Cerrone is now 4-0 in the UFC and improving with any fight. He is an exciting and athletic fighter that is easily dispatching of his opponents.

A title shot for Cerrone may still be two fights removed, as he is just now likely going to be in the top 10, but it is clear he is one of the best fighters in the class, and he would be ready to fight for the title right now.
