UFC 137 Results: Bart Palaszewski's Knockout of Tyson Griffin Proves Potential

Richard LangfordOct 29, 2011

Bart Palaszewski used UFC 137 as his personal coming out party, and now must be considered a fighter that is one fight away from being a real contender.

He landed the first fight stoppage of UFC 137 with an impressive victory over Tyson Griffin.

Palaszeski's size and power advantage were impossible to miss right from the get-go. He kept Griffin off-balanced with his reach, and then used his boxing skills to damage on the inside.

And it was clear he was definitely doing damage, and this fight was over quickly. One big shot after another by the Polish-American led to the quick knockout knockout victory.

This came after Palaszeski unleashed a furry of punches on an opponent that was quickly becoming helpless.

Opponent

Tyson Griffin used to be considered a lightweight contender, but has since been slipping.

Things did not go right for him in this fight. He was three pounds over weight at the way in, and as a result, has to give up 25 percent of his purse.

His purse may not have been the only thing that took significant damage, as his rush to lose weight appeared to have taken its toll. He was never in this one.

What This Win Taught Us About Palaszewski

In his UFC debut after a career in the International Fight Leagues and WEC, Palaszewski packed more power than I think anyone was expecting.

He was never really considered much more than a mid-level fighter, but with this performance people may have to rethink that perception.
