NFL Picks Week 8: Eagles, Patriots and More Hungry Teams That Will Feast on Wins

Sometimes, just being talented is not enough to win a big game in the NFL.

Every team has talented players, and just because a team is better than another on paper, that doesn't mean they are locks to win.

You have to be hungry to win an NFL game, and I'm  not talking about being physically hungry.

You have to want it more than the other team. In fact, you have to need it more than the other team.

Week 8 features a few games that will require a hungry win, not just a talented one.

Philadelphia Eagles

Simply put, the Eagles need to win this game. Their "dream team" season has turned more into a nightmare year. At 2-4 and at the bottom of the NFC East, this game has become a must win more than anything else.

Michael Vick and the offense has to play strong against a very aggressive defense. On the other side, the Eagles defense needs to try to stop the run, which is something they've struggled with. Cowboys rookie running back DeMarco Murray ran for 253 yards last week, and he's going to be on his way to that number again if the Eagles can't figure it out.

New England Patriots

Any time the Patriots and Steelers get together, there is bound to be a good football game. Even though Tom Brady, Wes Welker and the Patriots offense is far superior, the Steelers defense is still one of the best in the league.

When all is said and done, these two teams are very equal, so it's going to come down to heart and whichever team wants it more.

Detroit Lions

The Lions face the prospect of going into the bye week at 6-2, but a loss in Denver can put them down to 5-3, which is a huge difference.

Matthew Stafford is undoubtedly banged up, as is their running game. The defense, which started off so great, has been sub-par in the past few weeks.

The Lions need this game for their psyche, and they are going to have to want it more than Tim Tebow, which is very hard to do.
