NFL Power Rankings: Philadelphia Eagles and Teams Sure to Climb in Week 8

Donald WoodOct 29, 2011

It’s already Week 8 of the 2011 NFL season, and certain teams are far below where they should be in the power rankings.

This week has some of the more boring matchups of the year, but a few teams have a real potential to make a bid for the top spots in the rankings.

The following teams have been down early this season, but this could be their chance to make a huge comeback in the power rankings.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles were heralded as one of the best teams in the league at the beginning of the season, but things haven’t worked out that well.

With a 2-4 record, the Eagles have been disappointing to say the least, but a win against the division rival Cowboys could boast their playoffs hopes.

If they want to win this game, the Eagles need to effectively run the ball and stop the run; otherwise, they face a dismal 2-5 start to the season.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals have arguably the toughest defense in the entire NFL, but their offense hasn’t been matching their defensive output as much as it should be.

The rookie combination of AJ Green and Andy Dalton has been better than expected, but they need to show more if they want to beat the Seattle Seahawks.

With Cedric Benson out of the lineup, the Bengals will have to lean on Bernard Scott to run the rock on Sunday.

New York Giants

While they won’t get points for strength of opponent, a beatdown of the Miami Dolphins may be the perfect recipe to solve their offensive and defensive woes.

The Giants get Brandon Jacobs back, and they will use the double-headed attack to keep the Dolphins' defense on the field throughout the game.

If the Giants clean house this weekend, they will be setting themselves up for a jump up in the power rankings.
