NFL Picks Week 8: San Francisco 49ers and More Guaranteed Winners

Matt FaulconerOct 29, 2011

The San Francisco 49ers are going to obliterate the Cleveland Browns this week. The Browns have lost two of their last three games, and scored just six points in last week's victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

Cleveland won the award for the most boring winner of the week. For its prize, the Browns are lucky enough to head to Candlestick Park to be dismantled by the 49ers.

San Francisco's defense has been incredible this year, and coach Jim Harbaugh has turned QB Alex Smith into an effective game manager for the Bay Bombers.

The Browns make a living running the football, which is going to cause a lot of problems for Cleveland. Montario Hardesty didn't put up big numbers last week against the Seahawks, and he is really going to struggle against the Niners.

For the season, the 49ers have given up just 74 yards per game on the ground, good for second best in the NFL. Don't expect Browns QB Colt McCoy to suddenly light up a defense.

The 49ers will run the ball to victory in this one, while Smith does just enough to keep the chains moving.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills are going to annihilate the Washington Redskins in Toronto this weekend. The Redskins are basically fielding their B-team this week.

Tim Hightower, Santana Moss, Trent Williams, Chris Cooley and Kory Lichtensteiger will all miss this week's game.

QB John Beck will be making his second start of the season, and won't do much to impress against Buffalo's opportunistic defense.

The Bills have done a terrific job of forcing turnovers this year. Buffalo has picked off 12 passes and forced four fumbles this year.

Beck should be very afraid.

The Redskins' defense has also struggled to stop the run in the past two games. The Redskins have given up over 350 yards rushing to the Philadelphia Eagles and the Carolina Panthers.

They have to face Fred Jackson this week, who will also torch the 'Skins' defense.

The season started promising for Washington, but the Bills will put the team in its place with a beatdown north of the border.

There was no way to leave the New York Giants off this list. The G-Men face the struggling Miami Dolphins this week, which have been miserable this season.

Miami blew a fourth-quarter lead against the Denver Broncos last week in a matter of minutes, before Matt Moore fumbled the ball in overtime to give Denver and Tim Tebow the victory.

This week, the Dolphins face Eli Manning, who is having the best season of his career. He hasn't gotten a lot of publicity, but he has a QB rating of over 101, which puts him on pace for his best QB rating ever.

He is doing a much better job of protecting the football this year, as he has thrown just five interceptions.

The Giants are finally getting healthy after recovering during the bye week and should have no problem defeating the Dolphins.

Miami has struggled all over the field this year. The run and pass defenses are both ranked in the bottom half of the league, as are the rushing and passing offenses.

The team doesn't have much that's working, and it's going to falter this weekend at MetLife Stadium.
