NASCAR Sprint Cup Series: Qualifying Rained out for Tomorrow's Race

Eric SmithOct 29, 2011

Mother Nature has created havoc in Martinsville, Virginia this weekend in raining out the practice session yesterday and cancelling qualifying for tomorrow's Tums Fast Relief 500 Cup race.

The starting lineup for a race is determined by practice speeds in event of a rain out, but since the cars haven't made it on the circuit yet, they will have to start on points.

That's great news for current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points leader Carl Edwards, who will roll off first due to the rain out. Joining Edwards on the front row will be his Roush-Fenway teammate Matt Kenseth.

The practice session that was scheduled for 8:30 this morning was pushed back to the scheduled noon start of qualifying so the cars can get some track time heading into tomorrow's race.

That meant qualifying was cancelled.
