UFC 137 Fight Card: 3 Things You Definitely Will Not See Tonight

Matt JuulOct 29, 2011

Tonight's UFC 137 is poised to be an amazing night of fights.

Former welterweight champions BJ Penn and Nick Diaz will square off in the main event, with major title implications looming for the victor.

Also on the card will be a pair of heavyweight matchups as Mirko Cro Cop takes on Roy Nelson and Cheick Kongo faces Matt Mitrione.

With so many exciting bouts, a host of unexpected results are sure to happen.  However, there are just some things that will simply not occur.

Here are the three things you will definitely not see at tonight's UFC 137.

3. Mirko Cro Cop Knocking out Roy Nelson

1 of 3

A legendary striker during his Pride years, UFC Heavyweight Mirko Cro Cop has some of the hardest strikes in the division.

With 20 knockout wins on his resume, Cro Cop has the ability to knock almost anybody out.

However, this will not happen tonight because his opponent, Roy Nelson, may have the best chin in the division.

In his last two bouts, Nelson took beatings from two other formidable strikers in former champion Frank Mir and the heavy-handed top contender Junior dos Santos.

If these two guys couldn't knock Nelson out, I doubt that an out of his prime Cro Cop can.

2. Dennis Siver Submitting Donald Cerrone

2 of 3

Top lightweight contenders Dennis Siver and Donald Cerrone have been on a roll lately.

An accomplished striker, Siver has improved his ground game, submitting Andre Winter at UFC 122, taking the Submission of the Night bonus.

Despite this, Siver has virtually no chance of submitting Cerrone.

Cerrone is a very highly skilled grappler and has only been submitted once by former WEC Lightweight champion Ben Henderson.

I doubt this fight will even go to the ground, but if it does, Cerrone has nothing to worry about submission wise.

1. Cheick Kongo and Matt Mitrione Going to a Decision

3 of 3

Two of the hardest hitters in the UFC Heavyweight division, tonight's bout between Cheick Kongo and Matt Mitrione is definitely not going to a decision.

Mitrione has finished all but one of his opponents in his professional career while Kongo owns 10 knockout victories due to his high level of striking.

Both of these fighters are expected to come out swinging in what's sure to be a Knockout of the Night or Fight of the Night candidate
