Tashard Choice Too Talented to Be out of Work for Long

Richard LangfordOct 29, 2011

Running back Tashard Choice is out of work, but he won't be for long. Choice will be on the top of the list of players brought in by teams as a need for a running back arises.

And in the violent world of the NFL, those needs arrive often.

Choice is looking for work because, after four seasons, the Dallas Cowboys have cut him. ESPN reported it, and Choice confirmed it himself:

Choice was cut by the Cowboys even though starting running back Felix Jones is injured. However, the timing of this move is largely due to the fact that Choice himself is hurt.

Injury Concerns

This comes to us via Calvin Watkins and Todd Archer on ESPN:

"

"Choice suffered a shoulder injury in the third quarter against the St. Louis Rams last week and was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday before tightness in his hamstring kept him out of Friday's workout altogether. He underwent an MRI exam for the hamstring injury Friday."

"

As soon as he is healed, I expect him to find a job. He has shown flashes of brilliance in his career.

Conclusion

It is clear that Choice had fallen out of favor with the Cowboys, but he is still an athletic and exciting back. He is not an every-down player, but he can be effective as a speedy change of pace. He showed this promise often in his first two years with the Cowboys, and that athleticism is still there.

Possible Destinations

It is hard to speculate where Choice will end up since it is not known how long his injury will keep him out. Injuries to other running backs ensure this is a fluid list.

I have two teams targeted for Choice, though: the Chargers and the Redskins.

The Chargers need to replace the Darren Sproles void, and the Redskins need an RB to help fill the vacancy left by Tim Hightower.
