Chelsea vs. Arsenal: Robin Van Persie Is Premier League's Best Striker

Nicholas GossOct 29, 2011

Robin van Persie's hat trick at Stamford Bridge in Arsenal's 5-3 win over Chelsea Saturday was an amazing performance, and proves the Dutch goal-scorer is the best striker in the Premier League.

Van Persie has scored seven goals in his last three Premier League matches, and the difference between the Chelsea game and the previous matches was he did not have to carry the offensive burden himself.

His 10 league goals are currently the most in the Premier League, and he has scored 28 goals in his last 27 EPL games. This is simply astounding.

With the win, Arsenal have climbed from near the bottom of the league table to the top 6, and van Persie is the reason why.

Whenever he's healthy, which has been difficult for him during his career, he's a world class talent and goal scoring threat.

His ability to calmly handle the ball in the box, his spot on accurate shots with great power, and his free kick ability make him the complete attacking presence.

Van Persie has also played great without a top striker partner alongside him. Often times he is alone up top and must lead the charge by himself.

Arsenal for much of the season has struggled to score goals, and if not for van Persie the Gunners would still be in the bottom half of the table.

Manchester United's Wayne Rooney had a great start to the season, but like his club, his form has dipped a bit recently.

RVP has been consistent all season, and is by far the Premier League's most valuable player.

Manchester City's Sergio Aguero is a great player as well, but with the amazing amount of talent he has around him it's no surprise he has scored many goals this season.

Robin van Persie is the best striker in the Premier League, and not only is he carrying the Gunners with his brilliant goal scoring, he is being a leader with the captain's armband, and the man responsible for Arsenal winning eight of its last nine games in all competitions.
