Everton vs. Manchester United: Red Devils Ready for Goal Explosion vs. Toffees

Nicholas GossOct 29, 2011

Manchester United is looking to bounce back from their embarrassing 6-1 defeat to crosstown rivals Manchester City last week with a strong performance against Everton at Goodison Park.

Everton are currently in 13th place in the Premier League table, and have not found it easy to score goals this season. They are averaging just 1.3 goals per game this year.

Without playmaking midfielder Mikel Arteta, who left for Arsenal on the summer transfer deadline day back in August, the Toffees have been without someone who can create quality scoring chances on a consistent basis.

Against a team that scores over two goals per game in Manchester United, Everton will find it difficult to slow down the Red Devils attack.

Wayne Rooney, who leads United with nine goals, will rediscover his early season form on Saturday. Facing his former club has not been easy during his career, and the fans always let their displeasure for Rooney show.

Rooney will help United to a big win on Saturday and restore some confidence to the defending champions.

Manchester United is currently five points behind current leaders Manchester City in the league table, and losing points at Everton this weekend would really hurt their chances of repeating their title.

Being seven or eight points down after the weekend would be an uphill battle and extremely tough to manage for the Red Devils.

Rooney and winger Ashley Young will ignite a spark in the United attack, and lead the Red Devils to a big win at Goodison Park on Saturday, and help repair their goal difference which took a hit last week.
