Week 8 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Deion Branch and WRs You Must Bench

Nicholas GossOct 29, 2011

Wide receivers are often high-risk, high-reward fantasy football decisions, and in Week 8 of the NFL season there are some interesting choices to make on many quality wide receivers.

Deciding which WRs to start may be the toughest choice you make all week regarding fantasy football, so let's look at three wide receivers who should find a home on your fantasy team's bench this week.

Deion Branch

New England Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch is a reliable target, but he's disappeared in several of his team's games this season.

He's been very inconsistent this year, and against the top-ranked pass defense in the Pittsburgh Steelers, Branch does not have a good matchup this week.

Branch has played three games this season in which he's had three catches or less, and has just two touchdown catches despite playing in the best passing offense in football.

Do not start him this week.

Reggie Wayne

Reggie Wayne has not played like an all-pro receiver without Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning throwing him the ball this season, and against an underrated Titans defense he's not a smart start this week.

Wayne has gone over 60 receiving yards just one in the last four games, and hasn't racked up 100 receiving yards in a game since the opening week.

Eric Decker

Denver Broncos rookie wide receiver Eric Decker has been a nice surprise for fantasy football owners this season, but his last four games have not been good.

He has caught just 24 passes in the last four games, and has racked up more than 50 yards receiving just once in the span.

Against the talented Detroit Lions defense on Sunday, it's unlikely Decker will be much of a factor for the Broncos.
