Week 8 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Dallas Cowboys and Strong Fill-in Defenses

Michael DixonOct 29, 2011

Yet again, we're staring at a week of NFL action with six teams on a bye. So, yet again, fantasy owners are scrambling to fill in at different positions.

So, in taking a look at the ESPN fantasy leagues, I am noticing some nice defenses that are on the bench or not on the rosters of over half of the players.

So, we're taking a look at those guys now. Quite frankly, it is too late in the week to think that it's just owners being lazy. Fortunately, there is still plenty of time to adjust.

Dallas Cowboys

Do not, I repeat do not let the Eagles offense scare you here. Yes, they will score some points. An offense like Philadelphia's is not going to be shut out all that often, if ever.

But the Cowboys have great weapons in place to force turnovers and sack Michael Vick. That's big in the world of fantasy.

I am also expecting a relatively low scoring game in this one, given what each offense is capable of. Don't shy away from a defense led by DeMarcus Ware.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals have been an unheralded defense. The Seahawks offense isn't very good to begin with, but their quarterback situation is an absolute mess right now.

Even if the Seahawks win this game, how many points are they really going to score in this one? I can't think too many.

I like a few turnovers from the Bengals defense, and not many points. They are fantasy giants this week.

Kansas City Chiefs

I am just not expecting much offense here. I can go with the Chargers here pretty easily and not look back.

But the Chiefs did a good job against the Chargers when they first played this season, and that game was in San Diego. They are also coming off of a six-interception week.

I know that Kyle Boller and Carson Palmer had a lot to do with that, but Philip Rivers has been turnover prone this year too. I like the Chiefs' chances at having a nice night on Monday.
