NFL Predictions Week 8: Buffalo Bills and More Teams That Will Thrill Home Fans

Thad NovakOct 28, 2011

Going on the road in the NFL is never going to make life easier. Here are three home teams that will send their fans home happy…even if they aren’t all at their usual homes.

Buffalo Bills

Buffalo’s meeting with the Redskins will be played at Toronto’s Rogers Centre, where the crowd will still be on the Bills’ side but less vocally so than at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Even with a muted home-field advantage, though, the Bills have too much talent to lose to struggling Washington.

Washington quarterback John Beck is not a viable NFL starter, nor does he have the weapons around him that Buffalo’s Ryan Fitzpatrick boasts. Even with Washington’s aggressive defense putting a damper on the Buffalo attack, it’s hard to see Beck putting up enough points to win.

Baltimore Ravens

After Monday night’s disaster against the Jaguars, fans in Baltimore aren’t going to give the Ravens a lot of rope to hang themselves with. Luckily for Joe Flacco and company, the Arizona Cardinals aren’t likely to hand the boys in purple their second straight upset.

Jacksonville’s unheralded defense, which shut down Baltimore for almost the entirety of the Monday Nighter, has played much better on the season than Arizona’s. Flacco should be able to put up more than enough points against the league’s 28th-ranked pass defense to put the Ravens back on the winning side.

New York Giants

The last time the Giants took the field, they ground out a hard-fought home win over Buffalo. Taking down another AFC East foe this Sunday shouldn’t prove nearly so taxing for the G-Men.

Winless Miami has played some close games, including last week’s OT heartbreaker, but quarterback Matt Moore just isn’t up to the challenge of making plays against the fearsome New York pass rush. Even if Eli Manning plays as badly as Mark Sanchez did against Miami two weeks ago, the Giants still have too many weapons to lose here.
