Week 8 Fantasy Football Rankings: Who Are the Best WR Plays?

Chris TrapassoOct 28, 2011

Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson is a top fantasy start every week. No matter who he's playing, he'll still be that 6'5'' terror that no one can cover.

He's 1-A this week and every week from here on out.

(Against the Broncos, he should have a huge game, by the way.)

Guys like Wes Welker and Steve Smith are pretty good options, too.

So, who are the (other) best fantasy receiver plays in Week 8?

Mike Wallace

Think Big Ben will find Mike Wallace down the sidelines this week?

I certainly do.

He's become the league's premier deep threat, (averaging over 20 yards per catch) but has evolved his game to be a possession target as well.

No match for the Patriots secondary, although they'll be looking to take him away all day.

Still, all it takes is one catch and he's delivered another huge fantasy performance.

Hakeem Nicks

The Giants are coming off the bye week and get the Dolphins at home.

Nick is one of the more physical young receivers in the league that has the ability to stretch the field with his speed.

New York loves taking shots on go-routes and Nicks is Eli Manning's primary target.

Miami's defense is surrendering a shade under 260 yards a game through the air.

Solid day for Nicks who caught a 60-yard pass two weeks ago against Buffalo.

Dwayne Bowe

We saw how much trouble the Chargers secondary had with the big-bodied Plaxico Burress last week in the red zone.

Bowe will be even more of a problem, is easily a more well-rounded wide receiver than Burress and will be utilized between the 20s as well.

He'll be targeted often and had five catches for 107 yards and a touchdown in his last home game.

After his slow start, Bowe is starting to show his true Pro Bowl-form.
