Detroit Lions Fans Must Continue To Make Ford Field One of the Loudest in NFL

Detroit Lions fans, I am issuing a challenge to all of you:

For four of the seven home Lions games this season you all have made Ford Field one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL. Even though I have yet to make it to a Lions game this year, I could tell on TV that the atmosphere was electric.

The 13 false starts opposing teams have gotten this season has been tremendous—when they were 5-0.

I don't blame you—really, I don't. I am one of you after all. I know the frustration you guys feel when we start losing. I know the sentiments you express when we Stafford limping off the field after what could be another injury.

I have heard it all. I've heard all the callers on the Detroit radio stations saying Stafford needs to be benched, or Linehan needs to be fired, or the offensive line needs to be reworked. I've heard it all and I've shared all of those sentiments myself. So I want all of you to know this challenge to you is not because I'm mad at you.

I want you all to keep it up.

Home-field advantage plays an integral role in a team's success. Let's face it: We're never going to be the Oakland Raiders fans, who show their opponents hanging from a pole with X's over their eyes and a skull and crossbones underneath them. We're never going to be the Steelers fans, with the Terrible Towels. We're not going to be Cheeseheads. Or the Dawg Pound.

And we don't need to be.

I'll tell you what we will be though—and what we are: We are blue-collar. We put our hard-earned money into this team and we expect nothing but the best after we've been teased and tortured by this team in recent years. We are die-hards. "Blue bloods" they're going to start calling us.

Keep it up fans. Keep it up.

The Lions need us. The city needs us. My challenge to you is this: Even if we don't put together a string of perfection and we start going downhill, do not stop proving that Ford Field is going to be the most dangerous place to play if you are an opposing team. I know it's frustrating, but please keep up the good work my fellow Lions fans.
