BCS Rankings 2011: Kansas State and Teams That Will Fall

T.J. McaloonOct 28, 2011

Teams like Kansas State are solid, but they are not as good as their spot in the current polls and BCS rankings suggest. Yes, they have had some signature wins this year, but really what have they done to impress?

That's why this week, with teams like Kansas State having a tough game against a team that is truly more talented, these teams will suffer a crushing loss either at home or on the road, and the end result will be them moving down the BCS Standings.

The loss will end BCS dreams for one team and halt any upward momentum they had.

So, as much as it pains me to say, if your team is on this list, they will not have a good Saturday (as it will the result in a loss).

Kansas State Wildcats

Kansas State is right there with Clemson as teams that literally came out of nowhere to surprise everyone in college football. Their rise up the polls can not be denied as one of the best stories from this season.

But, all good things must come to an end, as this team has not played a team as talented as their opponents this week: The Oklahoma Sooners.

This game is at home for Kansas State, so they do have the advantage of not playing this Sooners team in Norman, where they are almost impossible to beat. But, even with the home field advantage, Oklahoma still has the better quarterback, receivers and defense.

Once Oklahoma takes away the Kansas State rushing game, it will cripple the Wildcats’ offense, thus giving the game to the Sooners.

Michigan State Spartans

Michigan State had the preseason respect that teams like Kansas State and Clemson did not get this year. After a stumble against Notre Dame, they have responded by proving to everyone that they were deserving of that high preseason ranking.

But, this week, after two very emotional wins at home against Michigan and Wisconsin, their streak of good luck will come crashing down against Nebraska.

Michigan State has proven that when they go on the road to play a good offense like Notre Dame, they have a tough time stopping them, especially in the running department.

And that weakness in stopping teams on the road with a good running game is what will kill this Michigan State team this week, as Nebraska has an excellent one-two punch of QB Taylor Martinez and RB Rex Burkhead.

Both teams coming into this game have big BCS dreams, as both teams have outside chances of even appearing in the BCS championship game. However, after this week, Michigan State will see their dreams crushed.
