Week 8 Fantasy Football Rankings: Jimmy Graham and 5 Best Tight End Options
More times than not, an elite fantasy tight end has an elite or above average quarterback throwing them the ball. Just look at the Indianapolis Colts Dallas Clark and the Jacksonville Jaguars Marcedes Lewis as examples.
Week 8 should have a few tight ends salivating at the mouth. There are some great matchups to take advantage of and I'm here to help sort out the top fantasy tight ends you should start heading into Week 8.
5) Vernon Davis-San Francisco 49ers
1 of 5Week 8 Opponent: Cleveland Browns
The 49ers face a stingy Browns defense that is first against the pass but Cleveland has given up five TD's to tight ends thus far in the season.
Vernon Davis had a quite Week 6 against the Lions, largely because of Alex Smith's struggles but expect No. 85 to return strong this week against the Browns at home.
4) Brandon Pettigrew-New England Patriots
2 of 5Week 8 Opponent: Denver Broncos
Brandon Pettigrew is second in receptions, only behind Jimmy Graham, but hasn't reached 50-plus receiving yards in a game since his outing against Dallas in Week 4. Pettigrew has a favorable matchup against the Broncos, who rank 19th against the pass heading into Week 8.
The Lions are hurt at running back, so look for them to continue airing it out and in result, Pettigrew should benefit.
3) Fred Davis-Washington Redskins
3 of 5Week 8 Opponent: Buffalo Bills
Fred Davis should shine against a Buffalo Bills defense that is ranked 30th against the pass. With Chris Cooly out for the season and the Santana Moss injury, expect the Redskins to rely a lot on Fred Davis in the passing game.
Expect a big day out of Fred Davis in Week 8.
2) Rob Gronkowski
4 of 5Week 8 Opponent: Pittsburgh Steelers
Among tight ends, Rob Gronkowski is ranked fourth in receiving yards and tied for first in touchdown receptions. Against the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, Gronkowski recorded five catches for 72 yards and hauled in three TD's.
The Steelers are ranked second against the pass, but that shouldn't deter Brady and Gronkowski from the end zone. Expect a shootout at Heinz Field.
1) Jimmy Graham-New Orleans Saints
5 of 5Week 8 Opponent: St.Louis Rams
Jimmy Graham has quickly become Drew Brees favorite target. Among tight ends, Jimmy Graham is ranked first for receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. He actually leads the league in receptions with a total of 45.
Graham totaled 64 receiving yards in the Saints blowout win over the Colts last week, breaking his four game consecutive streak of having 100-plus yards. Though, fantasy fans didn't fret much as Graham hauled in two TD's to raise his touchdown total to five (tied for first among tight ends).
The St.Louis Rams are surprisingly ranked 13th against the pass but will face an explosive Saints aerial attack. I expect the Saints to run the ball effectively and that should free up Graham for a big day.
