Missouri to SEC Articles Hit Internet Despite No Actual Agreement

Matt FaulconerOct 28, 2011

The SEC is really on top of its game.

Note the sarcasm there.

The Southeastern Conference posted articles on its website announcing Missouri's official move to join the SEC.

That wouldn't be a big deal, except Missouri and the SEC have yet to reach any agreement. At this point, the Tigers are still a part of the Big 12, and have yet to announce that they are leaving.

This accidental post would make it seem as if a deal is imminent between the two sides, but that might not necessarily be the case.

News has officially come across the wire this morning that West Virginia will be making its  official move to the Big 12, which may be a ploy by the Big 12 to keep Missouri.

This sort of thing simply shouldn't happen though. In the scheme of things it might not be a big deal, but how in the world could someone click the publish button by accident? It can't be that easy. Obviously the article was written in advance as it was published on Saturday, October 22nd but referenced a Monday agreement in the text.

Here is a screenshot of the blunder from the official SEC website.

In the scheme of things, it really shouldn't affect whether or not Missouri departs for the SEC. Everyone has a different opinion on whether it would be a good move for the Tigers.

Either way, the SEC should be a little more careful that this doesn't happen again in the future.
