The NBA's Most Disappointg Teams
23 games into the NBA season and already teams are disappointing their home fans. Records like 4-16, 4-17, and 2-20! Below is a list of NBA teams that are failing to win games and their chances of turning around their horrific start to the NBA season.
Washington Wizards
Season Record: 4-15 (Worst record in the Eastern Conference)
Overview
11 games into the 08-09 season the Wizards fired their head coach Eddie Jordan, after starting the season 1-10.
All-Star point guard Gilbert Arenas has yet to return to the court from a surgically repaired left knee.
Starting center Brendan Haywood has a torn ligament in his right wrist and will probably miss the entire season.
Reasons for their record:
The Wizards are missing their starting point guard and center.
They lack in height, a point guard, and experience.
Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison are having great seasons, but can’t hold their entire team on their back.
Chances of turning around this season:
If newly acquired Mike James can average decent minutes until Arenas' return. (He still has it!)
If Andray Blatche and JaVale McGee can step their game up (which is a doubter).
If the chemistry can improve between the Wizards roster and head coach Ed Tapscott.
Wizard’s Record Prediction: 17-65
Minnesota Timberwolves
Season Record: 4-16
Reasons for their record:
The Timberwolves are one of the youngest teams in the NBA.
They currently have the worst losing streak with six straight loses and clearly lack in experience.
Chances of turning around this season:
The Timberwolves have a ton of potential in players like Kevin Love, Randy Foye, Craig Smith, Rashad McCants, and Corey Brewer.
But, they aren’t capable of making it to the playoffs for at least another season or two; especially with Portland, Utah, and Denver in their division.
Timberwolves Record Prediction:15-67
Los Angeles Clippers
Season Record: 4-17
Reasons for their record:
Chris Kaman has now been sidelines for over a week with a strained arch in his left foot. He isn’t expected to return for another few more weeks.
They have three rookies (Eric Gordon, Mike Taylor, DeAndre Jordan).
Al Thorton has been in the league for one season, and Mardy Collins and Steve Novak have played in the league for two seasons.
Lots of young, inconsistent talent.
Chances of turning around this season:
With the addition of Zach Randolph, the Clippers provide themselves with an overabundance of rebounders.
If Baron Davis can stay healthy along with Marcus Camby, and Kaman upon his return.
Very slim chance of making the playoffs this season with the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns in their division.
Clippers Prediction Record: 22-60
Oklahoma City Thunders
Season Record: 2-20 (Worst record in the NBA)
Reasons for their record:
Young inexperienced talent with lack of depth.
Four rookies, two sophomores.
No consistent center.
Chances of turning around this season:
The Thunders have raw talent with a great amount of upside.
They are still in their rebuilding period at this time and don’t expect to make the playoffs for the next few seasons to come.
Thunders Prediction Record: 14-68
