WrestleMania 28: 8 Reasons Mark Henry Must Stay Champion
Four months and counting.
It isn't that long and with the way changes are ongoing in the WWE and both its brands, Raw and SmackDown, the need for consistency is something the company should consider.
With WrestleMania on the horizon, now would be a good time for the company to decide to keep the belts on its current champions, Mark Henry in particular.
Henry is the best heel champion the company has had in some time, maybe since JBL. And while fans truly do despise him and everything he does, his character is good for business, as Triple H would say.
But Henry's run as champion does more than keep a sustained title run going. It goes way beyond that.
Here are some things to consider.
It Will Set Up for a Continuing Feud with Big Show
1 of 8The ring breaking down was a cool thing, even if it was used before.
But the idea of giving Big Show a title shot so quickly was not a good idea.
Big Show and Mark Henry can battle it out for a few months or until someone else gets a real push.
He Will Lose at Some Point To Set Up a Cody Rhodes Title Run
2 of 8You cannot have a heel vs. heel title match. It does not work.
Henry will be champion, lose to, say, Sheamus at some point and then Cody Rhodes will claim World gold.
This makes plenty of sense.
His Act Is Believable
3 of 8The World's Strongest Man has a nice shtick going.
Beating up big men and sending them off.
The WWE needs a character where the gimmick is "real."
The Undertaker, Kane and Big Show all have gimmicks that are loved by WWE fans, but they are not believable.
Beating up people is the truest form of the entertainment.
Because Putting the Belt Back on Randy Orton Makes No Sense
4 of 8Orton has no real need to carry the title right now.
He is the only one I can see on SmackDown having a true shot to carry the strap for a long time.
Orton and his feud with Cody Rhodes need more depth.
There Is Not Any Resolution with the Daniel Bryan Situation
5 of 8Who will he face for the title?
The logical answer is Rhodes if he gets the strap.
I cannot see Bryan winning against someone like Henry, but then again, I did not think Rey Mysterio would ever win a strap.
It Could Open the Door for Someone Like Mason Ryan
6 of 8He could be the one man on the roster to be able to manhandle Henry.
Could this be a rivalry of the future in wrestling?
I sure hope so.
Kane
7 of 8We know it is probably coming.
Kane vs. Mark Henry.
The Big Red Machine will come back tougher and meaner than he was before, much to the delight of the crowds and the PPV events.
This rivalry could get some run for a while.
He Deserves This
8 of 8I am not one for sympathy in wrestling or that a company owes a performer for service, but in this case Henry has done some really stupid things over the years and now that he has finally gained the World title, let him hold onto it.
