Chelsea vs. Arsenal: Why Gunners Will Get Breakthrough Win at Stamford Bridge

Nicholas GossOct 28, 2011

Arsenal has won seven of their last eight games in all competitions, and have won their last two Premier League games.

The Gunners will continue their winning ways on Saturday and beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge for the seventh time since the formation of the Premier League.

Chelsea are coming off a 1-0 defeat to rivals Queen Park Rangers in their last league game, and have dealt with John Terry racism allegations all week.

The Blues are currently tied for third in the Premier League table with Newcastle United, and are just three points ahead of fourth place Tottenham.

Arsenal's attack has been good the past few games, and with Chelsea having trouble keeping clean sheets this season, the Gunners will certainly score a lot of goals.

Dutch striker Robin van Persie has been on fire of late, and has scored two goals in each of the Gunners' last two league games against Stoke City and Sunderland.

Van Persie has been a one man attacking force for the Gunners, but forwards Andrei Arshavin and Gervinho have also been in good form of late.

Arsenal won't have trouble scoring goals against Chelsea, the question is will their defense be able to prevent the Blues from having too many quality scoring chances?

With star centre-back Thomas Vermaelan returning to the squad after a long recovery from surgery, the Arsenal back line will be greatly improved.

Vermaelan is a good all-around defender who will provide quality and leadership to the shaky Gunners defense.

Arsenal will score at least three goals against Chelsea and will beat the Blues at Stamford Bridge, in a game that will be the changing point in their season.
