Bibi Jones Makes Patriots' Rob Gronkowski a Household Name

I am not sure if this is what Robert Kraft intended when he asked for an apology, but the Bibi Jones scandal has become the biggest story of the week, and Rob Gronkowski's name has flourished because of it. 

If you were stuck in a dark corner of the world this week, you may have missed a couple of pictures that the Patriots' tight end took with porn star Bibi Jones. 

Judging by the past sentence, you probably expect that the pictures were risque and depraved. Well here is one of them, and you can judge for yourself. That simple and benign photo has set off a firestorm that ended with Gronkowski apologizing for sullying the proud name of the New England Patriots. 

This could have easily been swept away as a non-story. An athlete takes a photo of a porn star and we are supposed to gasp. I prefer to yawn. The fact that reputations of a team and its player has come into question has lifted the namesake of the young tight end. 

Before this week, the only people that could spell Gronkowski were fantasy football degenerates that enjoy the amount of touches he gets on a weekly basis. Now anyone with an Internet feed knows his name, which is roughly everyone. 

The Twitter world is abuzz with mentions of Gronkowski, Jones, Gronk Nation and a myriad of other mentions that you can think of. 

If Kraft wanted the reputation to remain the same before Gronkowski, he failed. While the respectable name of the Patriots remains stout, the tie to a porn star has never been stronger.

Bibi Jones couldn't have dreamed of this type of free publicity. She has become one of the most popular people in the nation this week. 

A scandal has elevated her name to the same level of popularity as the New England Patriots. Gronkowski, he will be watched and monitored by millions this week. Not because of his physical talents, but because of the controversy. 

This nation loves juicy gossip. That fact has made Rob Gronkowski pull neck and neck with Tim Tebow for fame. Funny, this is precisely what Robert Kraft was trying to avoid.
